Deja Vu

Deja Vu

DejaVu have already cemented their status as an iconic girl group with over 30 million likes on TikTok over 520k dedicated followers across platforms. With just four singles released, the girls have captured the attention of artist JADE, formerly a band member of Little Mix, and American singer Jason Derulo. They are single-handedly funding their music career by leveraging their online presence, and collaborating with global brands like Levi’s and H&M with their high-energy choreography and unique personalities to release music that represents their vision.

Formed during the pandemic Tyrece (Ty), Elle, and Carolina (Diza) were initially introduced by a record label in Germany for a girl band project. Due to the impact of covid, the project soon ended - but the bond between the three girls remained. Still excited to make music together, the girls entered singing-competition The Voice UK in 2023. Getting turns from all four judges, the girls were mentored by British pop-star Anne-Marie, making it to the semi-finals. After the show, Diza, originally from Venezuela, had to return to her home country. The girls persevered, deciding to conduct music sessions over Zoom, and keeping in touch despite the distance.

Raised on the music of 2000s powerhouses like Britney, Rhianna, Nelly Furtardo, and The Pussycat Dolls, the girls bonded over their mutual love for strong female voices, and genre-blending music. They also share a love for dark aesthetics and melodrama. Combining these influences with the modern musical stylings and aesthetics of pop-innovators like Tate McRae, Rosalia, Nathy Peluso, and Doja Cat, DejaVu had crafted their sound. Describing their music as “a mix of dark pop with a Latin influence” DejaVu’s main goal when making music is to create something that makes everyone want to get up and dance. As the girls say, “All of these icons have helped us shape our sound as DejaVu.”

When deciding upon their name, DejaVu was originally scrapped. Yet it was repeatedly brought up. Eventually it stuck and in the girl's own words, “when trying to decide on a name we had so many on our list, awful ones too. DejaVu was originally overlooked until it was bought back up a few days later and it just felt right. We have always said our friendship feels as though we have met before in another lifetime so DejaVu was just the perfect name.”

Ty, Elle, and Diza attribute the growing success of the project to each other, saying “without each other we definitely wouldn’t have made it so far, the band only makes sense because of our bond and love for each other, we are like sisters and we feel so blessed that we get to share this journey together.”
