They never intended to start a band. They simply got together to write a song.
What was meant to be a one-off writing session as part of a collaboration between Błażej Król and Dawid Tyszkowski quickly grew into something much bigger. Soon, Kamil Pater, Kuba Staruszkiewicz and Wawrzyniec Topa joined the two vocalists. One song turned into several, and making music together felt so effortless that no one wanted the story to end after the first track.
That's how EWA KOC was born.
The band's rehearsals took place in Kocewka - a place that gradually became much more than just a rehearsal space. It also inspired the band's name: a playful twist on words that serves as both a reminder of their shared beginnings and a symbol of a creative process that unfolded entirely by chance.
In autumn 2026, EWA KOC will release their debut album, There Is No Better World Than This One (Nie ma lepszego świata niż ten). A few weeks later, the band will embark on a tour of the same name, presenting the new material live in its full-scale concert form for the very first time.
The album was born out of a simple desire to play music together. Five musicians, each with different artistic backgrounds and influences, rediscovered the pure, instinctive joy of creating as a collective. No compromises - just trust in one another's musical instincts and sensibilities. The result is a sound that draws from alternative rock, singer-songwriter traditions and improvisation, while remaining remarkably cohesive. The album tells stories of relationships, everyday life and the search for meaning in a world that is constantly changing.
Although each member of EWA KOC has already built an established career and loyal audience on the Polish music scene, it was this shared project that allowed them to create something entirely new. No leaders, no hierarchy, no distinction between front and supporting roles - just a shared belief that the best music happens when musicians truly listen to one another.
