Girli is entering the era of her third album with renewed energy and full honesty. At the beginning of the year, she set herself a clear goal - to write an album in nine months - and openly documented the process, stepping away from the “manufactured mystery” surrounding releases.

She’s returning to her roots and no longer plans to censor herself. Girli is ready to speak even more boldly about the issues that matter to her, including feminism, queer rights, and the rising threat of the far right.

 

Her new album it’s just my opinion (out May 8, 2026) is a cohesive, high-energy project inspired by indie sleaze and the intensity of live shows. The lead single “Better Undressed” is a “fun-but-sad” story about reconnecting after a breakup, while “Slap on the Wrist” tackles violence against women and the lack of accountability for perpetrators.

 

Girli - aka Milly Toomey - has stood out from the start thanks to her uncompromising approach and personal perspective. The new album also explores more intimate themes, as heard on “The Answer,” a coming-of-age track about first crushes and discovering her identity.

 

Despite the ever-changing music industry, she continues to build her career on her own terms, emphasizing that success isn’t defined by a single viral moment. Her goal remains the same: to create music that makes people feel seen and less alone - something that feels more important than ever today.
