IDER
British duo IDER, formed by Lily Somerville and Megan Markwick, return with their third album, Late To The World, created during a residency in a converted church-turned-studio in Wales. This latest release marks a mature and self-aware step forward—both musically and lyrically.
Active since 2016, IDER are known for their intelligent, emotional songwriting that blends alternative pop, electronica, and indie rock, with clear influences of new wave, alt-rock, and synth-pop. Their music balances cinematic scope with raw emotional intimacy. Following their debut Emotional Education (2019) and the more dance-oriented shame (2021), the new album sounds bolder yet deliberately minimalist—stripped back to its essential parts.
Late To The World explores themes of femininity, anger, coming-of-age, and finding oneself on one’s own terms—free from pressure or societal expectations. The lyrics are personal, reflective, and full of contrasts: between tenderness and frustration, lightness and rage.
The album features both emotional ballads and empowering anthems, such as “Know How It Hurts,” inspired by the fight for women’s rights. Another standout track is “Attachment Theory”, which explores the modern language of relationships and therapy.
IDER are voices of a generation unafraid to speak honestly—with humor, vulnerability, and strength. Late To The World is a manifesto of freedom and feminine solidarity, wrapped in hypnotic sounds.
