In a world driven by instant gratification and overnight fame, LEISURE chose to take things at their own pace. The six friends formed the band in 2015 during a spontaneous trip along New Zealand’s wild west coast. At that point, each of them had already spent years navigating the demanding music industry. Individually, they are acclaimed songwriters, producers, and artists. Together, they set out to create a new musical paradigm: cut the nonsense, enjoy the process, and – above all – keep it chill.

 

The soul-electronic collective from Auckland announces their new studio album, Welcome To The Mood, set for release on September 12, 2025. On their fifth studio record, the genre-defying sextet refines their soulful, slow-burning sound, opening a new chapter rooted in togetherness, creative freedom, and an authentic, ever-evolving journey.
For Welcome To The Mood, the band also embraced a more organic, live-recording approach.

 

LEISURE expanded their sonic palette by bringing in specialist musicians – string and brass sections, pianists, and backing vocalists – pushing the boundaries of what they could achieve as a group.
Still, at its core, the album carries a deeply personal message. Written in seclusion and far from everyday distractions, the songs reflect a sense of calm and escape, while expressing a newly found confidence in emotional vulnerability.
