Soundgarden on Life Festival Oświęcim 2014

Rock icon for the first time in Poland! Soundgarden will perform on the 27th June 2014 at the MOSiR stadium in Oświęcim. The show will be supported by Polish band Luxtorpeda and American-Israeli Balkan Beat Box. The 5th Life Festival will take place in Oświęcim, 25th – 28th June 2014.
Soundgarden, lead by charismatic frontman Chris Cornell is one of the most important grunge bands, together with Pearl Jam and Nirvana. The band was formed in 1984 in Seattle, the commercial success came in 1994 thanks to „Superunknown” album and a hit single „Black Hole Sun”. In 1997 the group was disbanded and in 2010 came back with the original line up: Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd and Matt Cameroon. In 2012 the new album „King Animal” was released.
Balkan Beat Box played at the biggest festivals in the World (Roskilde and Glastonbury and many others) and became one of the biggest modern World Music stars. The band was founded in 2003 by Ori Kaplan, Tamir Muskat and Tomer Yosef. The album „Give” (2012) is the reaction of the group to protests of people around the World – from the Occupy Movement to Arab Spring. „Give” illustrates hopes and anger of present times and is the most politically and socially involved record in their discography.
Polish band Luxtorpeda was formed in 2010 by Robert „Litza” Friedrich – guitarist and singer, known from bands like: Acid Drinkers, Flapjack Turbo, 2 TM 2,3 and Arka Noego. Other musicians are: Robert Drężek, Krzysztof Kmiecik (Armia, 2 TM 2,3) and Tomasz Krzyżaniak (Armia, Turbo). In 2011, during recording their first album Przemysław Fręcel (rapper, known from 52 Dębiec) joined the band. The band sings about human considerations, inner fights, downfalls and rises, darkness and hope. Their debut album was awarded by Fryderyk for the best Polish rock album in 2011. Both albums were noticed high at polish charts. The band is currently recording the third album and we may be sure that the new songs will be heard during LFO 2014.
The tickets on the Soundgarden, Luxtorpeda and Balkan Beat Box concert are on sale from 20th of November. From 18th of December the carnets for the festival are also available at www.livefestival.pl . The second headliner will be announced in January.
Life Festival Oświęcim promotes peaceful coexistence of people - there will be educational events, art galleries, theaters and a classical music concert. For those who love sports the „Tolerancja na sportowo” race will take place. For hip-hop fans the „Street life” event is planned.
