"When I close my eyes and let myself go, I'm there again. On one of those endless summer days, when the air shimmers and my friends call out to me from the riverbank."
This memory begins "Countless Feelings But So Few Words" (release: Nov 14) – the debut album by orbit.
After half a decade full of stories, experiences, and encounters, Marcel Heym, also known as orbit, announces his long-awaited first album for fall 2025. In it, the nostalgic coming-of-age narrative that orbit began in 2020 with "Perspectives" finds an emotional conclusion.
"Countless Feelings But So Few Words" is a look back at a symbolically ending "long summer," a personal reflection on growing up, and a farewell to a certain feeling about life that has shaped the young musician's art until now.
orbit looks back on an era that has allowed him and his friends to draw ever-wider circles: from rural Northern Germany, across Europe, to the legendary Burning Man Festival in the Nevada desert.
Five years have passed since the now 30-year-old producer Marcel launched the orbit project. In his early twenties, he moved to Berlin and began working there as a music producer. But the noise of big city life didn't bring him what he was looking for. He fled back to his hometown, back to the Weser river, into nature, into his circle of friends.
Here he found his peace and artistic freedom. This is how a project came into being that was allowed to grow organically, without rushing.
And that's exactly how it sounds: with a soundscape of intimate acoustic sounds, dreamily distorted vocals, and atmospheric synths, orbit has found his way to express inner dream worlds and connect them with impressions from the small town.
Since songs like "Perspectives" and "Friday Night" gained worldwide attention, orbit's cosmos has grown carefully but significantly. Through fan communities, encounters at small and large national and international festivals. And also through his friendship with Parra for Cuva, whom orbit was able to accompany on his USA support tour in 2024.
Since the beginning of Marcel's musical journey, the collective idea has been an integral part – from organizing small shows to designing his own merchandise. This approach evolved over time and led to a new highlight in 2024: DIY shows in Mexico, coordinated together with friends from the orbit community – partly via FaceTime and with people he only knew from Instagram chats before. orbit combines "mindfulness" and "adventure" and remains a passion project with DIY at its core, even with international success: with self-built stage designs, handmade merchandise, and self-produced music videos.
In winter 2025/26, orbit will embark on the "Small Town Friends on Europe Tour" with the album. In addition to headline shows in Amsterdam, Paris, Zurich, Vienna, Munich, Stuttgart, Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin, and his hometown of Bremen, further shows in the USA and Mexico are planned. Tickets are available at summersomeday.de; international dates for spring and summer 2026 are in planning.
Until then, the young artist and his crew are organizing special fan events related to the upcoming album and remains true to the DIY and community spirit: At the end of August, they went on a five-day picnic pre-listening tour. After putting out a call for participants on social media, Marcel received over seventy invitations and his team put together an itinerary: After an opening session with his friends from his hometown, he visited groups in Halle, by an old US school bus that had been converted into a large camper, in Karlsruhe in a garden, then on to Eigeltingen at Lake Constance and finally to the Seiser Alm in the South Tyrolean Dolomites.
With headphones and vinyl test pressings in hand, he brought the new album to the special places and into open hearts, to listen, feel, and talk about it together. The exclusive sessions allowed fans to immerse themselves in the music in their own safe space, and orbit to engage in deep exchanges and capture moving, authentic original sounds and recordings of album impressions.
Now, at the beginning of autumn, orbit is offering its international community the opportunity to create their own magical evenings with exclusive pre-listenings - by sending test vinyls with personal messages to the US, Mexico, and Europe and documenting online how the album travels from one group to the next. Like an orbit, the album continues to swing further and further out from Marcel‘s home into the world, drawing circles and connecting people far beyond the small town where it originated.
